Equipment required:

Class set of:

- rods of various materials incl. copper, steel, brass, aluminium and glass

- box of drawing pins / paperclips (each group needs at least 5)

- galley pots, petroleum jelly and spatulas

- bunsens + heatproof mats

- tripods

- papertowels

Risk assessment:

In addition to normal laboratory safety rules:

Long hair should be tied back.  Loose clothing should be secured (sleeves rolled up etc)

Bunsens must be on safety flames between each test.

Do not handle materials when hot.

Materials should not be heated for more than 5 minutes.
